Josh Schuberth is a Producer, Engineer and Multi-instrumentalist from Sydney, Australia. He is the owner and operator of Fireswamp Studios in the Blue Mountains, just over an hour west of Sydney, where he records, mixes and masters records for some of Australia’s finest Country, Alt-Country, Country-Pop, Folk, Indie Folk, Alternative and Adult Contemporary artists.

Since 2002, Josh has worked with a wide range of Australian and International artists both live and in the studio. After touring extensively around Australia and the UK with Josh Pyke in the mid to late 2000’s, Josh completed a Master’s Degree in Recording Arts and embarked on a career as an audio engineer, producer and session musician. In 2010 he joined the team at Love Hz Studios in Sydney’s inner west, working as a freelance producer and engineer. Here he would team up with Matt Fell, beginning a creative partnership that has resulted in multiple ARIA and Golden Guitar award winning albums.

In 2018 Josh left Love Hz Studios to build his own recording studio in the Blue Mountains which he named Fireswamp Studios. Designed and built to suit his specific creative needs, Fireswamp is a warm and inviting space, inspired by the beautiful natural landscape of the surrounding Blue Mountains National Park. Fireswamp Studios has already made a mark on the Australian music scene, with work on multiple Golden Guitar and ARIA award winning albums taking place there. Some of these albums include “Fallow” by Fanny Lumsden (1 x ARIA and 5 x Golden Guitar awards), “Living in Colour” by Shane Nicholson (5 x Golden Guitar awards), “Birdsong” by Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham (3 x Golden Guitar awards), “Wiser” by Lyn Bowtell (1 x Golden Guitar award), “Travelling Salesman” by Brad Butcher (1 x Golden Guitar award) and “The Cast” by Michael Waugh (1 x Golden Guitar).

Throughout his career Josh has performed at major music festivals around the world, including Glastonbury, SXSW, The Big Day Out, Falls Festival, Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival, Homebake, The Gympie Muster, A Day On The Green, Sound Relief, Woodford Folk Festival and many more.

As a session musician, engineer and producer, his credits include over 50 Golden Guitar Award wins and 7 ARIA award wins, multiple gold and platinum selling records and streams totalling over 300,000,000 worldwide.

In 2021, Josh signed with the Australian based cymbal company Red Cymbals as an artist and endorser. He currently plays a variety of cymbals from their range, including 15” and 16” Traditional Hi-Hats, 20” and 22” Traditional Crashes, Rides ranging from 20”-24” in their Traditional, Glow and Custom series, as well as effect cymbals from their Raw range. The cymbals are hand made in Turkey and are perfect for the recording studio as they are beautifully balanced and don’t overpower the drums. The company also does a lot of work within the music community to support drummers, regularly holding drum “sheds” around the world. They provide opportunities for drummers to hang out, play music and talk. With a focus on mental health and supporting those who may be struggling, Red Cymbals are more than just your average cymbal company, which is a big part of why Josh chose to work with the brand.
